As a third generation physician, Dr. Singh's practice philosophy is based upon providing reliable, impecable quality, and state of the art care for our patients. We comprehensively treat all foot and ankle problems from simple tendonitis conditions, bunions, heel pain, ankle sprains and ankle fractures, to the most complex reconstructive surgery and limb salvage of the foot and ankle. We also specialize in Total Ankle Implant and Joint Replacement.
Dr. Singh went to UCLA where he graduated with honors in Biochemistry. He then did his Podiatric Medical education at the California College of Podiatric Medicine. He did is surgical residency at the VA West LA. In 2001 he did a mini-fellowship at the Russian Ilizarov Scientific Centre for "Restorative Traumatology and Orthopaedics" in Kurgan, Russia. This center is the world's largest orthopedic hospital for deformity correction and traumatology using the Ilizarov method. In 2002 he completed another fellowship at the Russian Ilizarov Scientific Centre for "Restorative Traumatology and Orthopaedics in Kurgan, Russia. And in 2003, he completed another mini-fellowship at the Russian Ilizarov Scientific Centre for "Restorative Traumatology and Orthopaedics in Kurgan, Russia. The Ilizarov surgical fellowship allows Dr. Singh to perform complex trauma and reconstruction which otherwise would be impossible. Complex deformities such as recurrent failed club feet, verticle talus, structural equinus (toe walkers), arthrogryphosis, rigid flat feet, cavus high arch, calcaneal gait as well as many others can be corrected using the Ilizarov method.
Dr Singh also did two other advanced trainings in Athens, Greece in 2003 and 2004. These were completed at the Orthopedic Department of Thriassion Hospital at the Limb Lengthening and Reconstructive Unit. His focus was on transosseous osteosynthesis in injuries and diseases of the foot and ankle.
In early 2004, Dr. Singh also completed a specialized training in microsurgery in the Microsurgery Research and Trauma Laboratory, Department of Orthopedic Surgery, Columbia Prysbeterian Hospital in New York. This training was for the enhancement of specialized surgical skills to facilitate repair of small vessels and nerves using the microscope.
From 2005 to 2011 he had specialized training in total ankle joint replacement using all of the 4 FDA approved implants; Agility, Inbone, Salto-Talaris, and STAR. Those patients that suffer from severe arthritis of the ankle joint secondary to rheumatoid arthritis, or trauma induced arthritis, can have their ankle joint replaced with an ankle prosthesis.
Dr. Singh has also had specialized surgical training in diabetic peripheral nerve decompression in patients with severe neuropathy. He was trained under Dr. A. Lee Delon, MD, PhD, Professor of Plastic Surgery and Neurosurgery at John Hopkins University. This is a surgical technique in which nerves are decompressed from tight surrounding tissue allowing for a more uniform flow of the axoplasm (nerve fluid). This helps decrease the sensations of severe disabling neuropathy for those patients that are recalcitrant to medications.
Dr. Singh also performs plastic surgery on the foot and ankle for diabetic limb slavage, ulcers and other pathologies. He had specialized training from Duke University Medical Center in flap and reconstructive surgery
.
Currently, Dr Singh is one of few Foot and Ankle Surgeons who is Double Board Certified in Reconstructive Rearfoot and Ankle Surgery, and Foot Surgery, as well as being an Ilizarov Fellow for Deformity and Trauma Correction
